Stay Home

How is your stay-at-home experience going? I have found the need to be more creative during these long hours at home. It gives my hands something to do and my mind goes into a flow state. It’s been months since I’ve knitted, but lately I’ve felt the pull to do more of it. There is something very meditative about it. It also feels really good to watch the rows of knitting getting longer. How amazing is it that a ball of yarn can make a sweater?! It’s like a little miracle. I’m currently knitting the so faded sweater by Andrea Mowry. I love the color changes! I also joined the Knit Collage spring knitalong. I’ll be making the kaleidoscope sweater. As you can see I’m all about bold colors right now!

I’ve also been reading Devotions by Mary Oliver. I’m going through these poems slowly. It’s a soothing read at the moment. I’ll leave you with a poem I particularly like:

What Gorgeous Thing by Mary Oliver

I do not know what gorgeous thing
the bluebird keeps saying,
his voice easing out of his throat,
beak, body into the pink air
of the early morning. I like it
whatever it is. Sometimes
it seems the only thing in the world
that is without dark thoughts.
Sometimes it seems the only thing
in the world that is without
questions that can’t and probably
never will be answered, the
only thing that is entirely content
with the pink, then clear white
morning and, gratefully, says so.
