Winter Days

January is almost to an end! How did a month of 2017 already happen? Time is flying, my friends, but I am trying my best to savor these winter days. I’ve been knitting and baking while obsessively listening to Hamilton. Yes, I have finally jumped on the bandwagon. I’ve been meaning to listen to the musical’s soundtrack for ages and finally got around to checking it out from the library. It exceeded my high expectations! I can’t wait to see the actual musical someday! It’s making its way to California so I hope to see it soon.

Also, I read Today Will Be Different by Maria Semple. I loved Where Did You Go, Bernadette but I loved Today Will Be Different even more! I totally have a thing for stories about siblings and I think that’s why I cared for Today Will Be Different more. I loved the family drama! I highly recommend it. Yes, the main character is annoying at times but I found that it added to my enjoyment. I don’t have to always like the character to appreciate and empathize with their story.

While on the topic of books, WriteOnCon is just around the corner. It’s an online writing conference for kidlit writers and runs from February 2nd to the 4th. If you are a fellow writer for children/teens then I recommend it (plus the registration is pretty cheap). I’ve gone in the past and have always found the information helpful and inspiring.

And lastly, February is around the corner and there isn’t a single Valentine’s Day decoration in the house. I couldn’t let that slide! I made a photo garland featuring my lovable family. It adds a nice touch to the fireplace mantel and it took hardly any time to make!

I hope you all have a lovely end to your January!
