First Quilt

First Quilt First Quilt First Quilt First Quilt First Quilt

I received a sewing machine last Christmas and made some smaller projects, such as a tote bag and apron. But I really wanted to make a quilt so I took the Craftsy class Learn to Quilt: Cozy Throw Quilt. It was such a rewarding challenge!

Have you ever tried to learn a new hobby? It can be frustrating but I have learned to accept that my first completed piece will always be my worst piece. It’s okay for it to be total crap. You have to have a horrible first if you want to learn something new.

Your first piece is full of mistakes but it’s a growing experience. I learned so much through all the screw ups. It was exhausting to finish this quilt and I even remember muttering to myself a couple times, “This will be my first and last quilt.” But now that I’m done and can step back and see my accomplishment, I feel a sense of pride and think, “Just imagine what kind of quilter I’ll be 10 years from now.”

Honestly, if there is something you want to learn, it’s never too late. Years later you’ll be thinking yourself for starting now!
